Why train?

Why train with OTT?

As a company we are dedicated to providing the best quality advanced training in our specialist area

  • we are experts in technology and we write and develop our courses in-house rather than relying on materials provided by an outside organisation so you can be assured that we really know what we are talking about - we are not just a training broker

  • we are training professionals so our courses are of a high quality and are designed to meet real, current business needs

  • we are independent so our training is training and not a sales promotion

  • training is our core service and if it wasn't good then we wouldn't still be in business after 20 years

  • we offer technical support services if you need them

The quality features that make our course the best you'll find

  • courses are limited to small numbers - six for all practical courses so when we say it is a hands-on course we do mean YOUR hands on!

  • you'll receive a comprehensive, up-to-date course manual written in an easy to follow style with clear diagrams. It is fully indexed so when you come to refer to it later then things are easier to find. Many past trainees refer to it as their 'fibre optics lifeline' - it is certainly not just copies of the slides

  • we use up-to-date training technology. All courses are presented using data projectors and include animations where useful. We also use a small video camera which attaches to equipment so that you can see what is happening on a big screen and we also display the output from test equipment on a large screen so it can easily be discussed and analysed

  • on practical installation and advanced testing courses you will use a range of equipment, the same type of equipment you would expect to find in the field

Why train?

So why should you spend time and money on training?

Because our training aims to help you, cost-effectively and efficiently, gain an appropriate capability in fibre optics. We know, because our trainees tell us time and time again, that by investing in training to learn how things should be done, you will in fact save far more time and money on your overall projects than you would spend on your training.
Knowledge gains you control. You can make decisions with confidence, carry out tasks competently, have sufficient understanding to deal with unusual occurrences and you'll know when someone else is bluffing. On the other hand losing control is often expensive and time-consuming!
For example: wouldn't you like to:
  • be able to make an informed decision on which standards to go for

  • understand why and when certain tests should be carried out and what information you should expect as a result

  • confidently be able to specify the correct components, procedures and test methods

I know all the basics...

Good. But when it comes to moving forward you may not have time to keep up with what's going on out there. The limits of fibre optic technologies are being pushed all the time and standards are changing in many areas of fibre optics. By the time you've said "no-one is using that new stuff/standard yet" a few times, they certainly will be. If you are keeping up you are doing extremely well. A lot of people don't know how much they don't know.
So how big is your 'must read' pile? When was the last time you did much more than skim through the latest journal or e-newsletter?
Stop feeling guilty. You are right you haven't got time to do things the hard way. But you have got time to do things the easy way. Take a few days out and let us present the latest information to you and your team in a clear, well-structured, unbiased way designed to help you carry out the tasks you are involved with.
