The Monro, named after a Georgian trading ship, was Liverpool’s first gastropub, providing top-quality, restaurant-standard food in traditional pub surroundings. The transformation from old man’s boozer to gourmet retreat took place in July 2003 and the management has succeeded in giving the Monro a complete overhaul whilst retaining many of the pub’s Georgian and Edwardian touches. Traditionalists will be pleased to hear there is still a bar area with the restaurant to the rear. Here you can enjoy classic British dishes including rabbit, Welsh lamb rump, gourmet sausage and wild boar.
